If in Hamburg, this bar and restaurant must be visited. Quality food with decent sized portions as well as excellent range of beers including proper Dunkel beer not the see through thin darkish beer that many german bars pass off as Dunkel.

Cozy little restaurant with friendly staff members. The food was pretty good, just partly lacking a little bit of relish.

I think the price-performance ratio is great, the staff is really super friendly and the food tastes really good. I like to go there

Great food, had schnitzel with lettuce and fried potatoes with bacon and onion as a side dish. Food was really good, came very quickly, and was really plentiful. Price-performance ratio was absolutely great, as was the service. Clear recommendation!

Were there for lunch. There were six dishes to choose from for € 6 each. Food was delicious and the portions for the price you can't beat! Service attentive and quick. Definitely a tip for everyone who wants good, inexpensive home-style cooking. We would be happy to come back on our next trip to Hamburg.

We walked past and because there was a nice table outside, we sat down without great expectations and were pleasantly surprised. Nice service, good selection (some with a slight Indian touch) and the food came quickly. It was simple but delicious. Big no-frills burger. Baked potato was even given me 2 chicken fillets. So a cozy down-to-earth pub to drink beer where you can eat very well. In terms of price also top.

We did a “culinary city (part) tour“ through St. Georg. In the "rebuilt" old Max & Co there was a port wine / Guinness mix ... The men were enthusiastic, for us women it was pretty much nothing! Ambience rustic to shabby, but with an interesting story!

Onion soup was delicous, wiener schintzel was also good, but bratkartoffel was a bit too oily. 4 € for zwiebelsoup, 10,5 for Wiener schintzel ( super big portion)

Nice German food and a friendly place

It is an institution there in the St Georg neighbourhood. The food is not the most excellent in the world, but prices are cheap, the food comes quick, the beer runs fresh and the atmosphere lets you dip into Hamburgs alternative crowd. Here you meet artists next to tourists to bankers to drunks.

I was there for lunch (June 22, 2020). The service is nice and courteous. The food was very tasty. I was very satisfied, would recommend it and maybe I'll come back again.

A place that I have visited since time immemorial and always find great. Today with a group of friends for a cozy chat. Food was delicious and the beer flowed freely. The service is always friendly and attentive. We would love to come back.

Max & Co. Is a nice place to be. Here, the atmosphere oozes, happy people and friendly staff. Max & Co. Outside seems to be a cross between a bar, bodega and eatery, but it's much more than that. The atmosphere is cheerful, and there is a good mix of people who should just have a little one on their way home from work, and the family who is out to eat with the kids. My husband and I were satisfied, and were extremely pleased with the quality of the food. I got a Lumberjack steak with fried mushrooms, ferrets and salad, and my husband got a pasta dish with fried shrimp, not just gourmet, but delicious nonetheless. The food came quickly after we ordered. We will definitely visit the place again.

A hidden pearl. I almost went past this place, but saw the reviews. The atmosphere is great. A relaxed pub setting. The food is lovely and a pleasent surprise. Some of the best mussels we have ever had. A tender snitschel. Crispy fries. We felt wery welcome by staff and guests alike. We finished up with lovely red porridge and vanilla ice, an apple strudel and brownies. Will go here again, if I get the chance, and highly recommend it. Kid friendly too.

service was a bit slow at the time we went as she seemed to be all alone running the outside .. but worth the wait really good value and great quality of food the simple steak with pepper sauce was perfectly cooked (slight rare as i prefer) would definitely go back next time I visit Hamburg
